Who's Journey? I was born in 1950. When music kicked in for me it was Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Brenda Lee and Connie Francis. And then the Beatles arrived in America and for the longest time, it was Ringo. I was 13 years old and let me tell you, I was one of those girls who just fell apart when I saw him on Ed Sullivan.
Then I fell in love with John Lennon. By the time he started producing music on his own, unbelievably beautiful music like Imagine...well I was all grown up (I thought) and I could appreciate him for the musical genius he was.
I was 21 years old the year that song was released. I think most people who knew me then would tell you I was in my hippie stage. Hair down to my waist. Guru blouses and bell bottoms. LOL
I'm 58 years old now. And still, I cannot hear that song without crying. I miss John Lennon.
I know. I'm so old.
But more importantly, did you see Sasha tonight? The adorable shih tzu who was the sidekick of the second contestant on American Idol? I can't remember the contestant's name, although I remember she was very pretty, but she made the mistake of bringing Sasha, her shih tzu with her. Sasha stole the show, but even she couldn't hide the fact that her mommy just could not sing.
Simon likes little doggies. That makes me like Simon even more.
Sasha is a fake, people. She's a fake.
That adorable little dog was my Chelsea! Oh, I kid. But surely you saw what an adorable dog the shih tzu is.
Chelsea got a HUGE reprieve today. She had a grooming appointment this morning. So Rob puts Chelsea on the leash and off they go. And twenty minutes later Rob and Chelsea walk back through the door and I'm thinking, huh?
Apparently Chelsea's regular groomer, Robin (her breeder) is out for surgery, which we knew. But her stand-in, Phyllis, who was all set to go, got bitten by a cat this morning. The cat bit her so hard, they had to take Phyllis to the ER...because get this...the poor cat broke a tooth off into Phyllis's hand. Good grief.
I'm sure Chelsea couldn't care less. She got out of her most hated thing ever - a spa day. I swear, if I didn't know it for sure, I'd doubt Chelsea was a girl.
Shih tzus are wonderful little dogs. If you ever want a dog that's just amazing with little children you want a shih tzu.
There's no way I'd have an iffy dog around Cameron and Avery. No way. She adores both of them and as sweet as my grandchildren are, Chelsea takes quite a bit of abuse. Little children are rough. Chelsea's a smart dog and has learned how to dodge the worst of it. But mostly, she's just a big baby herself and I can't imagine her being snappy or snarly with my grandchildren.
Not to worry. I'm very aware that Chelsea is a dog, an animal, and I'm not stupid. If I ever saw the slightest sign that she might hurt Cameron or Avery, well, it would kill me, but the choice would be very simple.Barbie just doesn't think that deeply. Right now, she's so happy in her new pink woolly coat, she couldn't care less about anything other than the fact that she's barefoot. Really, some Jimmy Choo Heather Patent Boots would make her very happy.
Really, check out those boots. They're on sale. LOL

I was making a plane reservation while watching AI tonight, so missed a lot of what was happening. I caught a quick glimpse of Randy's 'fro. And I saw the cute doggie, but don't remember anything about the girl's voice.
Every year I am amazed at those who think they can sing - and whose families think they are the greatest. So pathetic.
Love the pink Barbie coat! I still have all the clothes my mom made for my Barbie. I'm sure yours will be a big hit. Not only are they more modest and fashionable, but they'll be made so much better than the plastic, fake stuff they sell now.
Enjoying my little read and then absolutely snorting when I get to, "Barbie just doesn't think that deeply"....
Oh, Barb...you kill me.
She looks great though. But I AM opposed to spending more on Barbie's shoes than mine. After all, her feet are only 1 inch long.
Tops.
xxxooo
That turned out very cute. Did you use snaps under the buttons?
"Barbie doesn't think that deeply"...you are a hoot! And yes, I clicked over to see the boots and luckily they just don't look like grandma boots cause that price would kill me. ;)
I still have the Barbie clothes that my grandma made and the ones my mom knit for me and treasure them greatly. It will be fun to see what you create.
The connection between Barb and Barbie - perfect item to add to your shop - Barbie clothes. I still absolutely love sewing them.
PS When I asked our groomer if she would groom a cat, she said she would but she preferred not.
Yep. Snaps under the buttons. I may be a glutton for punishment, making these tiny little outfits, but even I wouldn't try to make buttonholes that tiny. LOL
Barbie looks smashing. Pink is definitely her color. She looks warm and cozy if it were not for those bare feet. I doubt she can afford those wonderful Choo boots. Maybe a pair of pink furry one to match her coat :)
P.S. Maybe Barbie could go to the groomer. She needs to do something with that hair.
Boy what a steal of a deal on them boots. I'll have to get a pair and a spare! ;v)
Chelsea makes me laugh how much she hates that spa. And that poor groomer being bit by that cat. Yowch!
I still have Barbie clothes that were made for me by my mom, godmom, and a neighbor.
I did not know that about Randy Jackson, and I love Journey.
Barbie looks awesome! Great job.
I've had Shit-tzus. I have to agree, they're great dogs. Enjoy Chelsea, she's adorable.
Those are some boots, aren't they? They are gorgeous though.
I LOVE Barbie's outfit! LOVE IT!! It's just gorgeous.
I wish you could come visit NYC to see Strawberry Fields in Central Park. (Or perhaps you've been before?) This is a beautiful section of the park created as a tribute to John Lennon, with an Imagine mosaic right in the middle. Any day of the year, the mosaic covered in flowers. Tourists come on a daily basis to pay their respects to John Lennon. It's pretty incredible.
I would marry Steve Perry (Journey's original lead) if I wasn't already married, and of course if he asked ;) Journey is my favorite band ever.
Just had to get THAT out of the way... ;)
Barbie is stylin'! My mother-in-law makes clothes for Eve's Barbie and if they aren't the cutest things, then I don't know what is. Oh, wait... I do. Eliza, of course!
Avery is going to think you hung the moon! What a wonderful Nana you are.

Thank you Barb for your sweet comment. It was fun visiting. I will be back for sure.
Blessings,
Roxanne
Gorgeous little dog and gorgeous little coat. I wish I had one that fit me. lol It's pretty and brings back so many memories.
I thought Sasha's owner actually sang pretty well LOL But yeah, the dog stole the show.
And Journey...love them. They sing a lot of my favorite songs like "Don't stop believing" and "Faithfully".
I had to laugh at the comment about Barbie's hair--she just needs some frizz-ease :)
I remember cutting a tiny hole in the red velvet cape Mom sewed for somebody else's Barbie, so I could keep it. About 20 years later she told me she'd been sewing the clothes for others so she could pay for my Christmas gifts. Sheesh, talk about making me feel bad! I still have the cape, though, hole and all :)
And a cat tooth in her hand? Wow.
Barbie looks adorable! But Jimmy Choo boots would be perfect! Randy was in Journey?!? I had no idea! I think they are an 80s band..I only know them because of my kids...No, Jacksonville was named for Stonewall Jackson...who actually never visited the city...he died just before a trip to commemorate the city name...I think...:) I used to live there and i remember a statue of him...Stonewall not Randy..on a horse..its on the city flag too. History lesson for the day. :)
cute!
Barb,
I just noticed that Boo Mama linked to your appetizer post.
A link from Boo Mama?
Welcome to the BIG TIME, lady! I do believe you have hit the pinnacle of bloggy greatness. :)
$600 for boots that are on sale?? Holy cow, that's half my rent!! For that much money everyone in my house needs to be able to eat it, wear it, and sleep on it for a year!
You are so right about shih tzus! My 14 year old Gizzy, passed away this summer, and by October we had another little ball of fluff named Sadie. I can't imagine ever wanting any other breed of dog after having these two:-)
I don't believe the part about Randy and Jacksonville....but I did search to see if he was in fact with Journey....I think it was for a limited time only :)
BTW.....our little Florida town actually has a contestant going to Hollywood....yay!!!!
Thanks for the super bowl recipes...I have bookmarked them.
As always I love visiting but always seem to do more lurking than commenting...sorry!
Hello, I've been a reader of yours for a long time and this, I'm ashamed to say, is the first time I have commented. I have been a life long Beatles fan and watched that life-changing Ed Sullivan show also. I, too, loved John and miss his brilliance. It is inconceivable to me that two of them are gone. Anyway, just want you to know that you are a constant inspiration to me and I always enjoy looking in at what's going on in your world. (I have the same washer, dryer you do.)Have a great day! Twyla
Are Shih Tzus good with cats? We'd like a little dog, but it has to be one that would also totally be gentle with our elderly, terrified cats. Chelsea sure is a sweetie!
Hi, Barb. I've been reading your blog for well over a year now (mainly because you remind me of my mum with her grandchildren - you just adore them so much and its lovely to read about). Anyway, I was reading the part where you said how much you loved John Lennon and I just wanted to say that I am from (and still live in) Liverpool, England and my previous house backed onto Penny Lane. I drive past his Aunt's house where he grew up all the time and Strawberry Fields is just up the road from me. The Beatles split when I was really young but I have always loved them and still treasure the memory of Paul McCartney waving to me a few years ago as he drove down a quiet street on his way to some event here. That was quite something.
The Barbie clothes. They are amazing! You are amazing!
