It's 21 degrees and snowing here today. Friday - my busiest day of the week because on Friday, Cameron and Avery both arrive at 7 a.m. And we're off and running! On Fridays, I make sure I'm wide awake, dressed and ready to go by 7 a.m.

I don't normally cook breakfast during the week around here. But it's so snowy and cold out, this morning I thought Rob would appreciate it. Here's what you need for the easiest breakfast in the world, sausage gravy and biscuits.
I'm not a breakfast sausage person (I prefer bacon :-) but Rob loves it. Cameron started his day with two of these biscuits with his Smucker's sugar-free strawberry preserves on them. He's a happy camper. (So's Rob.)

Avery will practice her sippy cup skills today. She's getting quite good at this actually. Poor little thing has to use Cameron's old Cars sippy cups until Nana get some cute girlie ones for her, but she's so proud of herself, I don't think she's noticed that. By the way, one of those painful top teeth is completely through now. So she's halfway there. I've always thought the two top teeth were the most painful for babies to cut.

Cameron and I will get creative with these as soon as he wakes up from his nap this afternoon. I absolutely love how excited he gets over warm chocolate chip-pecan cookies coming right out of the oven. Half of this batch will go home with him of course.

You know, I'll admit this is a cute movie. But oh my word, I'll be SO glad when Cameron gets tired of it. It's already playing for the second time today and I'm guessing we have four more showings in store. I'm completely sick of it. But he's not. And Fridays at Nana's house are for fun, so six showings it is. Sigh.

This occupies him a lot on Fridays too. This kid loves playing
Fisher Price toddler games on my computer. He's sitting in Papa's lap in this photo. Papa is a huge help to me on Fridays, before he leaves at 2 p.m. to go to work.

It's hard to get much done when both the kids are here, but I've found I can usually get at least one monkey made. I've decided my new motto is, "A monkey a day...."

Of course this is a big part of every Friday. Cameron showed up this morning with a blood glucose reading of 52 (pretty low) and two hours later, the monitor said, "High." So he's had two units of insulin so far today and will certainly have more throughout the day. His blood glucose is all over the place but his pediatric diabetes specialist told us to expect this. We're happy with anything between 100 and 200. I check Cameron's blood sugar every two hours, all day long, and give him insulin or orange juice, depending on whether he's high or low. Just keeping track of the time, when I'm so busy, is a challenge. :-)

Fridays are something else around my house. I love Fridays, but boy, I'm busy! As long as the fridge is full of this, I'm good to go. I'm pretty sure I burn off the 140 calories in each can of my fuel.
Attitude is everything. I've decided Fridays don't wear me out. They keep me young. LOL

What is all that white stuff? The food made me hungry. I love the movie Alvin also (so do my big boys believe it or not). Have a great Friday.
I wish it would snow here...we don't see that much! Send some down south:)
The snow is FINALLY beginning to do a bit of melting here. After 80 inches in 3 weeks I couldn't be more grateful! WHEW....
Thanks for the idea of biscuits and gravy done that way! I will have to be making some of that here and SOON!
Happy Friday!
Great day in photos, loved it! Boy, I must be hungry because you really got me with the food ones - sausage biscuits and then choc chip cookies sound awesome right now :)
So glad you are getting snow and it's so pretty. It's a balmy 68 here, and my husband took a day of vacation to deer hunt. Too hot for that, so of course, he's at the golf course instead *grin*
Have a great Friday and weekend, Barb!
Alvin and the Chipmunks, huh? I'm jealous...
Of course I'm being serenaded by strains of violence in Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. You really haven't lived until you've heard all the light sabering and shooting in this soothing game. :)
Sometimes I just have to yell for him to "turn down the carnage". Luckily for me, he complies--because he wants to keep playing.
I was so glad today finally warmed up to between 25*F and 30*F for the first time in more than a week. I was able to let the dayhome kids go burn off some of their seemingly unlimited energy. We've got, oh, about 10 times more of that white stuff. LOL.
One of these fine days, I'm going to give sausage gravy and biscuits a try. It sounds awful good!
It's 57F here right now, but all next week we're supposed to have a shot of arctic air and some frozen precip. The weather geeks aren't committing to what type of frozen stuff just yet.
I like sausage, gravy and biscuits, but I want them separately on my plate. I make homemade cream gravy but believe it or not, I like most gravy mixes if I can get it without too much black pepper in it. I don't put pepper in my homemade gravy. What you do to it after you get it on your plate is your business.
Miss Avery has a birthday coming up not too far in the future. If she takes to that sippy cup really well Krissy will probably be able to wean her off the bottle by the time she's a year old.
She's getting so big! Is she saying words yet or still just jabbering? Is she pulling up yet?
Emmy left about 2:30 pm and I'm not as wiped out as I thought I would be. She's such fun now, and talking away. She's actually calling me Grandma now ---- about 35 times an hour, LOL!
Hope you get your monkey done. (Not a statement that I've made often, as far as I can recall! ;o)
You should have warned us so we could avert our eyes from that exposed monkey butt, LOL!
Have a great weekend and get some rest, my friend. :o)
Love and hugs,
Diane
As I write this I'm sure you are passed out in the recliner. lol. Scott said Miller will never get to lay computer games on our computer so I will send Miller to your house...okay? lol again...
Your day I'm sure was fun.
Love all the photos and the one of Cameron on the computer makes me smile, it's just like mine playing those kid games :)
Great day you had Barb :)
Barb, I have to say that my first reaction to your breakfast was, "But gravy is so easy, you don't need a mix!" and then I noticed that it was Jimmy Dean so that made it all better. :o)
And I don't care if I'm the Grandma or not, I could handle one showing of the Alvin movie and that's it! Holy cow, I can't explain how annoyed I was by that movie, but when you're trying to be a good mom, you do what you have to do for the sake of your kids. (When the movie was over and the kids asked if I liked it, I was honest enough to tell them that I thought it was awful, but I'm really glad that they enjoyed it.)
And I made cookie dough on Thursday. The difference is that mine never made it to an oven. :o) Sometimes you just NEED cookie dough, you know what I'm saying?
Your Fridays sure are busy, but I bet you love every minute of it... and the drink that you have about 5 minutes after everyone is gone.
Hi Barb,It has been awhile since I last visited!! I love your snow pictures ,but don't care to share any with you...
Cameron and Avery are so precious..I love how kids can play on the computer and have fun...Your corner desk looks very nice.. I would love one like yours..
The color run remover works wonders!!I may try some on my fingernails to whiten them..
My husband loves sausage and gravy..I can not make it, so this package looks great... I am going to cook some for him..
It is so nice to have Rob help you on Fridays with the grands and they must love it too!! Have a good week-end. Hugs, Barb
All we're getting is rain here in GA...no snow. :( Isn't it amazing how well they can function on the computer at such young ages?
The Chipmunks are cool and Cameron sounds like Our Little Man except with us its Kung Fu Panda

have a nice weekend
Jen
Hi friend!!! Good to get back to reading you!
Hey -- I was thinking of you over the holidays while I was baking, because I noticed that there are now sugar-free chocolate chips in the baking aisle! Hershey's sells them.
You kow that choc chip cookie recipe you posted about a while ago? The big fat ones??? I make that recipe just as is, except use the Splenda brown sugar blend and the Splenda granulated sugar mixes for baking. The cookies turn out great!
