As you know, twenty-four hours ago I decided I'd bite the bullet and get out my little book, some knitting needles and some way expensive yarn, and teach myself to knit.
I'd like to thank you for the twenty-eight emails you've sent me since yesterday afternoon, assuring me that this is easy, you're there if I have any questions, and just inspiring me to venture out into the unknown with confidence that I can do this.
Really. You didn't have to do this post. I already knew you were behind me 100%.
That's what sisters are for, right? :-)
The least I can do is share my progress with you. But you must keep in mind, I've only been at this for twenty-four hours now. So cut me a little slack.
I whipped this little number out last night. You were absolutely right. That cable stitch running all down the front of this sweater was tricky! As you can see, I muddled through it. Not bad for my first attempt, right?
Here's where I'm really at. I'm actually feeling quite sure I can learn this because this only took me SIX HOURS.
Clearly, I'm making a coaster. Everybody knows pukey green knit coasters are all the rage right now.
I wouldn't have stuck it out this long without your encouragement. So thank you for that.
PS...It's true your bangs are a tad short in this photo. But I didn't do it. As I recall, I waited until you were in about the third grade before I massacred your bangs. I love you too much to post that photo.
In this photo, those short little bangs are cute! Like you. xoxoxo
Tiny little edit: If you don't get the connection between this post and the photo of Bev's seriously short little bangs, you didn't click on the link to her post. It all ties in quite nicely if you read her post. :-)
