I published this photo on Sunday and asked you to guess what this is. Geez. I didn't think anyone would know. Almost everyone knew. LOL
I'd never seen anything like this until Krissy received several of these from my sister, Bev, as a baby shower gift. I wasn't especially impressed, other than the fact that they were very cute, until Cameron was born and I realized that we'd go through half a dozen burp cloths a day for months and months. Krissy only had three of them and Cameron was here with me all day so I made myself a dozen. These are basic Nana supplies!
I just made another dozen last week and as I was working on them, it occurred to me it would be awfully easy to share it with you. I like to have these in stock - they're very sweet to add to a baby gift. Actually, a half dozen of them ARE a baby gift. They'd be especially nice in a baby essentials gift basket. They're easy to make if you have a sewing machine and if you don't have one, they're simple enough you don't have to feel guilty about asking your mom or your best friend or your favorite aunt to make you some. :-)
Remember, you can click on these photos to enlarge them. Just promise me you won't enlarge the photo that shows the pathetic, disgusting condition of my ironing board cover. I must get a new ironing board cover.
This is all you need. I bought everything at Walmart. You can use cotton like I did with these, but flannel is also very nice. I buy one yard of fabric. Better to have a little too much than not quite enough.
So what you need is very simple: One package of prefolded cloth diapers, fabric and coordinating ribbon, and thread. The only sewing supplies you need are a sewing machine, a hem gauge, straight pins, scissors and pinking shears.

Walmart sells two types of cloth diapers. Trust me, you want to buy prefolded diapers. Here's what the label looks like.
This is what the diaper looks like. I tossed the diapers, fabrics and ribbon into my washer and washed them on the hottest setting before I started working on them. (If you have a lingerie bag, put the ribbon in that to help avoid it getting tangled.) You want to preshrink everything. After everything was dry, I ironed it all very smooth to make it easier to work with.
Here's a tip. Lightweight cotton fabric will ravel like crazy in the washer and dryer. Use pinking shears to trim the ends of the fabric to prevent this. It may still ravel a little, but not nearly as much.
After they are washed and dried, the diapers measure about 17 inches long. You're going to sew a seven inch wide strip of fabric down the center of the diaper. To allow for a one-half inch hem around all four sides of the strips, cut the fabric eight inches wide and eighteen inches long.
Edited: I have since discovered, the diapers can vary in length by as much as a couple of inches, so the best way to determine how long the strips need to be is to measure the length of the diaper you're working with and add one inch, which allows a half-inch hem at each end.
Lay the fabric strip on your ironing board and using a hem gauge, press a one-half inch hem down each side. You can leave the ends unpressed because these diapers are not perfectly equal in size and you'll simply turn the ends under so they meet the ends of the diaper evenly, after you've pinned the strip of fabric in place. You'll turn the ends under BEFORE you sew any seams. If you sew the side seams first, you won't be able to turn the ends under.
For each burp cloth, cut two lengths of ribbon the same length as the fabric strip.
Lay the fabric strip down the exact center of the diaper with the pressed hems facing down. Lay the ribbon down the sides, lining it up with the edges of the fabric. Pin the sides in place. Then fold the ends under so they meet the edges of the diaper and pin those in place, too. Everything's all pinned in place now and you're ready to sew your seams.
Sewing through all three layers, sew the side seams first.
Sew down both sides of the ribbon, making your seam as close to the edge of the ribbon as you can. It helps to sew very slowly. After you've sewn the sides sew across the ends, again, as close to the edge as you can.
That's it - you've just made a cute, cute burp cloth!
This is the back of the finished burp cloth.
If you did a good job of centering the fabric strip, the folded over sides of the diaper should meet down the middle.
This is what the finished burp cloth looks like. Because you washed everything in hot water before you started, this is pretty much what it will continue to look like as it's used and washed over and over again.
They're very sweet. And they're fun to make. This is how I make them but you can get as creative with the fabrics and the placement of the ribbon as you want to. There are some mightly sweet baby fabrics out there!
I apologize if I talked to you like you're a dummy. I didn't want to assume that everyone knows how to sew, especially with a sewing machine. I have two daughters. One of them loves this kind of thing, does have a sewing machine and would ace it. The other wouldn't even know how to turn a sewing machine on. :-)
If you decide to give these a try, I'd love to see your results.

Cute, cute, cute! I love your step by step directions. You know that telling us not to do something is like saying sic 'em to a dog - BTW, my ironing board cover is worse than yours by a long shot!! I don't use it enough to notice often enough to do something about it!!
lol Dawn!
What a great seamstress you are. My Mum used to do lots of sewing, particularly for charity. I tried it once but lost interest. These 'burp cloths' are pretty, so pretty in fact, I'm brooding!
Better go....
p.s Thanks for explaining to this dummy about your cake mix, too!
Barb I love that you didn't assume that everyone knows how to sew because I do not but I would sure love to. I don't have anyone to show me how so I so appreciate you taking the time to give step by step instructions although to be honest they still might not be simple enough for me, I really am a dummy when it comes to this stuff. I have never seen these type of burp cloths before using cloth diapers. Very cool I must say. I am going to look for those diapers here but I've never seen them before in my Walmart (in Canada) but will definitely check again.
You are the best!!
Laura
Okay, I knew what they were and I was going to leave a comment but lost track of time...
And can I just say I LOVE THE TUTORIAL??? YOU are seriously so good at walking us through your projects! And I do sew, a lot, but I didn't feel talked down to at all. It is nice to have step by step directions!!
I think I may whip some of these off for our silent auction... or maybe just to keep for our new baby....or maybe both!!!
Thanks for stopping at my blog and thanks for your kind comments.
I'm glad you gave step-by-step instructions --I can sew a bit but it's just easier if everything is laid out for me and I don't have to think too hard. ; )
Glad you got the black outfit!
Will have to give this a shot....for a baby showerin April....don't ya love the ooohs and aaahs?
Barb, these are precious! I thought they might be burp cloths, but here we LOVINGLY referred to them as spit diapers! Because, that's what all three of my babies did. Spit up, after every.single.meal. LOL
My friend just had her twins 6 weeks ago, and I might just need to make up some of these for them. Thanks for the instructions. (and for the prayers for my Dad)
Blessings,
Karen
Those are sweet Barb! I am like the daughter who doesn't know how to turn the machine on. Sewing makes me sweat! So step by step by step is absolutely necessary if you're talking to me! :v)
I can't sew, so you'd have to dumb it way down to make it simple enough for me to follow, sadly.
We STILL use burp cloths all the time. They're a nice light blanket in the summer, a comforting wrap when someone has a stomach bug and nice for wrapping up dollys.
I KNEW IT! And I am so glad that you gave the directions. As soon as I saw this post at the beginning when you said it WAS indeed burp cloths I was so hoping you would give us the directions.
I wanted to tell you that when I had my babies I used cloth diapers. And I wanted burp cloths too. Since I washed my own diapers and hung them on a clothes line I wanted to make sure that the clean diapers for the bottoms did not get mixed up with the clean diapers for the burping. So ... I just used my sewing machine with the cute fancy stitches and stitched along the edges of the cloth diapers that I was planning to use for burp cloths. It worked beautifully.
But ... yours are much cuter. And I plan to make them for a young mom due in June. I wanted to knit her a baby afghan but I knitted her a full sized afghan for her wedding 2 years ago and did not want to do the same thing. So there you have it. Thanks for the idea, and the directions. I learn so much with this blogging thing ...
They are absolutely adorable. I will just have to admire the ones you made because I am totally helpless with a sewing machine. I don't know what it is. I can do almost any other handcrafty thing - but sewing just defies me.
The whole post is just wonderful Barb.
Still no baby here, but I shall soon find out the difference between a receiving blanket and a burp cloth. These are too adorable!
BTW, if there are jobs out there that require step-by-step instructions with photos you would be making alot of money. Think of all the instructions we follow everyday - cake boxes, recipe books, sewing books, hardware stores and websites - they all need you, Barb! And you seem like you have great fun doing this!
You inspire us to want to try all these lovely projects. You have a great gift!
Oh, I just might have to give these a try - after I finish with my current few projects!
The good thing is that I already have a package of these diapers that I used with my son so this would be the perfect way to dress them up for the new baby!!! Thanks for sharing!
Well, you had me stumped in the previous post, but I had my mom look at the photo and she guessed right away. But then she's the seamstress in the family, not me. ;)
Those are adorable, Barb!
Okay, that's it! I need to get myself a sewing maching and learn how to sew. I could make these, now that you've shared step-by-step instructions!
Thanks so much!
I thought that's what they were! ;) I have a very dear friend who is due to have her very first baby in May. I'm really new to sewing and have only made one little tote and I think I did a pretty good job on it! :) Anyway, I'll have to bookmark this so I can come back for the directions and make her a few! I love them! I wish I'd had some of these cuties! Thanks for sharing! I hope mine will turn out well and I hope you won't mind if I have to ask you a gazillion questions in the process! :) Have a great week!
Your right Barb, these things are priceless when you have a baby around... I think I know what I'm taking to the next baby shower I go to... thanks. I love handmade things for gifts, I always end up buying an outfit or something because we have our resident quilters at church (I have several beautiful quilts from those ladies after the birth of my children and wouldn't trade them for anything).
These are cute, and look easy.
You crack me up, I was so perplexed trying to figure out how to make a leftover picture :)
Have a great Tuesday!

My Life as Annie!
I would have to glue them together but that would be after I've spent the entire day trying to get my seam and crease as straight as you have them.
I wish I was kidding.
Woo hoo! Thanks for this idea. I have a friend who's having a baby, and this would be perfect for her. :)
Those are a wonderful gift, so very pretty and useful, and I think I am safe in saying that we all love the step by step instructions! You make it seem do-able, even if we can't sew!
My ironing board cover is much worse, but that's something I can live with right now. :0)
Nice job! they look so professional. My things never turn out quite so neatly...I think I'm in too much of a hurry. :)
Message to on the Rock - your blog has disappeared! And I don't have your email address, so I can't find you. If by any chance you come back here, please email me.
These are adorable! I make burp cloths, too, but mine aren't this cute! Love the ribbon idea--
Barb,...I have seen burp cloths at baby showers, but none this cute!!!I think I could make these.; I will give it a try, and let you know how they turn out.. Baba
Barb I love these, how adorable...too bad I'm not having anymore little ones LOL
I've been so busy I haven't had a chance to come say hi, glad I stopped by today :)
Sweet! My daughter received something similar but I would have to see how they were made. This is so nice, easy and CUTE! Cute is the most important part don't you think? Ha!
Hugs to you!
I don't/can't sew, but if I did I would be copying this down and making some for a friend of mine! Those look so pretty...you did a great job!
Those are adorable Barb! So cute....I've been making burp cloths for a few years for gifts and one of my daughters loves me to make them for her to give as gifts too. I've got a silly question; you said you wash the fabrics & diapers but do you wash the ribbons/trims also?
I hope to try some like yours because I think they are cuter than mine! Here's links to mine w/photos:

Beautiful work, Barb!
Oh for cryin' out loud, Barb. I feel like a lazy schlub next to you. Those are way too cute!!
However, I won't be attempting it. The last time I sewed was in my 8th grade home-ec class. Yeah. Never mastered that craft.
What a perfect baby gift! I can't think of any new Mom who wouldn't appreciate them!
Your tutorial is great and easy to understand :)
those are wonderful I can understand why they would be so helpful to a new mum
thanks for telling us u made them
I LOVE your instructions! I am new to the world of sewing. i recieved similar ones at my baby shower and thought that it was one of the bests gifts I recieved. I have wanted to make some for friends and now I can! Thanks!
That's awesome! I am a dummy when it comes to sewing...I need exactly that in order to even think about starting...!

THAT WAS FANTASTIC!!!! LOVED the step by step instructions! I am heading off to link to this post on my site. It is a wonderful resource!!! AND your finished product is ADORABLE! :)
These are sweet, Barb! I don't sew, but I think even I could give these a try! My sister in law is expecting her first (a miracle baby!) this summer...hmmmm....:)
Barb, I absolutely love these burp clothes! Thank you for the detailed pics as well as directions. It is very easy to understand. I hope to get a sewing machine soon, so I can make these as my next baby shower gift!! Have a great day!
How am I not surprised that you included how to pics???
Love them!
You should sell them on ebay! You could share your ebay ID on your blog, and the sewing impaired among us could fund your next vacation! Those are too cute!
Burp cloths...I've never heard of those before or seen any! I'm not kidding! lol We always just used a towel or receiving blanket over our shoulder to burp the baby. Love the ones you made, they are so very sweet and a great idea to give at a Baby Shower!! My mom use to sew all our clothese while growing up so she's a great seamstress...I hem pants and repair tears...that's it! lol xox
those are the nicest burp cloths I have seen yet!
great job and great steps showing us!
have a great day...
Thanks so much for the wonderful instructions and idea!
I found you via 5 Minutes and can't wait to come back when I have more time! These burp cloths are such a wonderful idea!!
PS - Thanks for the tip about trimming fabric with pinking shears before washing. I washed some new fabric just the other day only to have it all twisted and tangled with misc. threads. What a job undoing it all!
Those are so cute and clever!! I am bookmarking this page for when I am reunited with my sewing machine.... long story. Thanks!
Cute burp cloths! I just read the post to look at the pretty pictures. God did not insert the crafting gene in my dna, but what a great and helpful post to those He did. I was thinking, maybe since I no longer have babies, you could come up with cute dish towel ideas. Just kidding(:
What a neat way to dress up a diaper which is what I always used for a burp clothe!
:-D
PS...I have a new blog address...just click the above link.
I love these, Barb. You are so creative. I wish I could sew! I want to learn so badly.
These are so cute!!! I am going to attempt to make some for a friend. Thank you for the step by step directions. I have never sewn anything but I am going to give it a try.
You made me laugh out loud with your "I'd rather eat dirt" comment on my blog. Maybe I've been in the sun too long but I happen to agree with you. We are headed out to dinner. And an early bed. Well, to rest those muscles I didn't know I had of course.
Thank you for the step-by-step explanation. I don't have a sewing machine, but I have a friend who is learning to sew on hers. She made my daughter a beautiful skirt. We also have a neighbor who embroiders cloth diapers to make burp clothes. Sometimes she embellishes them with fabric, etc. They were some of my favorite baby shower gifts for my daughter. I'll have to send the link to your blog to her, too!
Although I fall closer to your 2nd daughter in reality, I love to see what others do. Maybe someday I will learn for myself.
I absolutely had to forward the thinking blogger award onto you, Barb. Come on over and claim it. :)
Thanks for dropping into my WW. It's pizza! lol
Cute! Cute! Cute! Is there anything you don't do?
I was just invited to a baby shower tonight. I'm going to make some of these this weekend to add to a baby basket. Thanks for the idea.
God Bless :->
THESE are what I want to make but out of Thirsties prefolds to go under Parker's diaper covers! Or, heck there are days when I could just snappi them and let Parker hang out around the house in them.
Now, to teach myself how to sew a straight line.......
My daughter is about to have her first baby. I *love* these. Thanks for the tutorial. I can't wait to get started!
i received some of these for one of my baby showers and i loved them! its such a cute idea. thanks for being a wonderful example to this homemaker-in-training!
Cute, cute, cute! If I have time this weekend, I'll try my hand at it. A co-worker just had a baby, and I've been wanting to give them a "little something" without investing a whole lot into it!
Thanks for the idea and instructions!
Awwww!! Soooo cute!!! I'm going to make those for my 2 sister's who are due in July!!! Yay!!
Thanks for the "easy-to-follow" instructions. For some of us young moms, the sewing machine is the enemy. Hehe. Thanks!!!
xo in Christ, annaliza
I made two this afternoon. I didn't have any diapers on hand, so I used brand new *bar* towels~~the white ones you buy in a bundle pack. I washed and dried them first. I used flannel on one and a light blue very soft velour on the other. The velour was left from an outfit I made for my unborn grandson. I trimmed them with a light blue polkadot groisgrain ribbon. Thank you for the idea! I love it.
I love these and can't wait to make some myself... Although I don't really sew too much, I think I might be able to do these because of your great instructions! Thanks!!!
love it! easy enough, but really helps to have the step by step. I've got three friends having babies this summer, so maybe I'll do this for them! thanks!!
Thanks for this Barb! I decided to make some myself. You can check out the pictures on my blog!
Thank you for the step-by-steps! I've been wanting to make these but hadn't sat down to figure out exactly how to do it yet.
one quick question - I'm assuming you pinked the edges of the fabric before washing?
i made these as a gift and had a question. after i washed the cloth diapers they had little white i guess fuzzy things on them..and did not come out as white as they went in. any tips on this?
Three's no way for me to connect back to you through your comment, Rebecca, so I hope you come back here.
I have no idea why your diapers would come out of your washer less white than they were before you washed them. I can only think it must have something to do with your water? And if you used the same brand I used, Gerber, I don't know why they came out with fuzzy things on them either.
Honestly, I have no idea. All I can think is you maybe have very hard water? But it seems to me you'd see this with all your laundry, not just these diapers.
Fortunately, because they're just burp cloths, I don't think it matters. If you're giving them as gifts, ironing them might make them look nicer. Sorry I can't be more help.
Thanks for the nice tutorial. Believe me, your ironing board cover looks brand new compared to mine. I would spend on a new sewing tool or fabric in a heartbeat, but to buy a pretty new ironing board cover... somehow that always falls off the list. LOL
When I washed my burp cloths they got a linty with lint balls. Any suggestions on how to make that not happen? It doesn't look like you had that problem...
You are awesome, Barb! Those are just adorable! I printed your post out and made these for some friends. They turned out wonderful. Thank you so much!
Thanks so much for the tutorial. The language was just right for my sewing skills. I was able to make two to coordinate with a blanket that I made for a baby shower. The pictures were a great help too.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I bought the materials and am starting them tonight. : )
Great idea! I borrowed it and made my own to give to two mothers I know!
Thanks for the how-to, so easy to follow and I do love them!
Mine are here!
Hmm, so sweet. I found your blog through Randi (I have to Say)...I am a beginning sewer and we are waiting to adopted a baby girl (perhaps with a sibling group) from Guatemala. Your tutorial inspired me to make some while we wait ...thanks for sharing, you definitely blessed me!

Great tutorial! Don't forget if you have friends who cloth diaper these make great fun to use *actual diapers* as well. Just use a diaper service quality (found easily online) prefold. Also, laying a double layer of microfiber towel (target auto department) under the pretty fabric boosts absorbency. :)
Thannks again!
This may be a daft question for some, but where in the UK would I get cloth nappies? I've never seen them in a shop before!!
Thanks.
Katy, I can't connect back to you through your comment so I'm hoping you come back here.
I actually have no idea where cloth diapers would be available in the UK, so I Googled it. Everything I found led back to purchasing cloth nappies on line.
So if you want to make these, perhaps you could find the diapers, or nappies, on the web. I know for sure you can find them at WalMart's web site.
Sorry I can't be of more help but honestly, I would think surely someone in the UK sells cloth nappies.
wow...I am making receiving blankets for my daughter and her newborn. I wanted to make matching burp cloths and came across your site. I never would have thought to use diapers too in this way. awesome burp cloths. thanks for sharing...great tutorial....
Jessica Jones (How About Orange) linked to this today. Those burp clothes are so sweet!
Jess recently made a snazzy new cover for her ironing board - details are here
http://howaboutorange.blogspot.com/2008/02/make-ironing-board-cover.html
I mention this because you lamented the condition of your cover in this post. :)
I just bought & wahsed the diapers, and had fuzzies on them too. I used a lint roller ($1 at the dollar tree) and no more lint! You got so many comments, maybe you should form a flickr group for your tutorial!!
Great tutorial! I am new to sewing and I think I understand everything perfectly. If only I had seen it a couple weeks ago in time for that last baby shower. No matter, I have another to attend in April. Plenty of time. Thanks again!
Thanks for the great idea on the burp cloths. I have already made six pink and about to start on the blue. One tip though, dont cut the length of the fabric at 18 inches, lay it on the diaper and then cut 1 inch longer. even though i washed everything on hot, and followed the cutting instructions, my fabric was shorter than the diaper. it looks ok though, no one will notice. just next time i will cut each length according to the diaper, i hope this makes sense!
i also made the fringed baby blanket which looks adorable. thanks again, i love your website!
I'm a new mom, work and not too
savvy with my mom's sewing machine.
I want to buy my burp cloths, but don't know which to purchase - which is better, the old-fashioned cloth diapers or, what is everyone
else using. And how do you clean them. Any suggestions from the moms out there would be helpful, as I am getting tired of wearing
yellow t-shirts, if you know what I mean. knitter1
Fabulous job of explaining it all step-by-step. I am teaching myself how to sew, and I've been looking for burp cloth instructions that I can understand along with coordinating pictures. I too appreciate that you didn't assume that everyone can sew. These are darling. Thank you very much.
Jamie
I just ran out and bought fabric.. I am so excited... Thank you so much! your exactly what I looked for!
Misty
Just wanted to say thank you for those detailed instructions and the pictures one can examine closely!
I am a newbie with the sewing machine .. the burp cloths I made are not half as neat and professional looking as yours. Sigh, someday perhaps. Still, I loved working on this project - thank you!
~Aparna
What adorable burp cloths! I'm expecting my 8th munchkin, and have always used a (ahem) diaper! I can't wait to make some of these babies! Won't they look cute over my shoulder? Thanks for the tutorial.
Good Job! :)
I got the diapers for this and then realized i didn't get prefolded but already washed and dried them. Think they'll still work? Any ideas on how to make them work?
(this may post twice...i left a comment last night but don't think it went through - sorry if you get it twice)
These are very cute and the instructions are very user friendly! Hint for any sewing level: try using an edge stitch foot to sew the ribbon on. The foot has a guide that helps you sew along the edge to get perfect results with ease and no frustration. Most machines should have this foot available. It was the first foot I purchased when I started sewing. Thanks for sharing your beautiful project!
I love these! Thanks for putting up instructions on how to make them. I was about to go spend $20 for just 2 burp cloths like this. You're a lifesaver.
Thanks for a great tutorial! I'm also in Colorado...Colorado Springs, and I have several friends who are teachers who are pregnant and I've had several requests for cute burp cloths from them! I'm a quilter but I appreciate all the pictures!
Bonnie
thank you for the wonderful, easy-to-understand-n-follow tutorial!!! yours are the best directions i have found on-line.
Thank you so much for posting this tutorial! I have been wanting to make these for my sister in law who is expecting but had no idea how to go about it. Thanks to you now I know! :)
Hi Barb;
Thanks for the wonderful tutorial. I really appreciate it...as we have a little one due (via Ethiopia) soon. It gives me something to do will I wait.

Barb: Thank you, these are such precious gifts to give! I made them and found them so simple and fun. My only suggestion (for those of us less sewing-savy) is to use one inch ribbon and non-silky. I used some really tiny polka dotted ribbon from Walmart and it was hard work comparatively. Also, JoAnne's has an amazing variety (here in Rocklin, CA) of flannel...roughly 3 rows! Thanks a bunch for posting these! I am so enjoying making and giving them!
Great tutorial! Thanks for posting it (is there a reason to fold the edges over if you're just gonna hide them with the ribbon? Or, just looks better?
These are so cute! Thanks for the tutorial! I wanted to let you know that I'll be adding a post linking to your idea soon! You're an inspiration!
I have to say that your burp cloths inspire me to buy a sewing machine. I have NEVER use one before. I went to Walmart bought the one that was on special. I also bought ribbons, lace, patches, etc and made 6 burp cloths. They look awesome. This will be for a friend who will deliver her baby tomorrow. Thanks for your dummy lessons. Greetings from Puerto Rico.
I have a really old one of those seam thingy's (LOL) and now I know what it is for. Great tutorial and I will keep it, as I am getting ready to make some burp clothes for my granddaughter who is having a baby in August...hopefully on my birthday. Thanks this is great.
Anett
This is a great project because new babies go through these like crazy! I have 9 grandchildren and one on the way...I have made these for all of them and we use them all the time. I like to use knit fabric for mine.....so soft. You are right.....these are GREAT baby gifts also!
Love it!!! I can't wait to make some of these for my triplets! If I have time of course......
Oh thank you thank you! I am not that great at sewing, but I can sew a straight line! lol! I think the instructions are GREAT! Both my daughters are going to have babies within the next few months, I have a cousin due in between them AND 2 ladies one of my daughters works with are also expecting & need gifts! These are PERFECT & SO pretty! Thanks again for sharing! Many blessing to you!!!! :)
awesome tutorial! Love the step-by-step instructions and photos! Im not a sewer but im going to try to make one of these using your awesome tutorial!
Thanks heaps for sharing!
Oh Thank you~~~!!!!!!!! I can't begin to tel you how this will go over here or at my son's home when the new baby arrives! We just got the news the other day that we will be grand parents and i'm not old enough! but he and his wife are active duty just like us so it will be fun! I didn't like the burb rags i saw in the BX/px and your directions for this quilter are so simple! thank you!!!!!!
hugs!!
Since I am not a particularly skilled at sewing I have never made a gift for someone else... Your photos and tutorial are SO helpful, I have found new confidence! Thanks for your step by step instructions.

This seems to be a great site for purchasing stuff for kids like baby whole sale clothing with fine quality - available with all top brands Barbie, Ben 10, Disney, Peppa Pig, etc.and i would surely like to try their service...i had been relying on http://www.1stkidswholesale.co.uk earlier and they too offered good stuff.
I made some more of your burping cloths! I think this is going to be a baby shower staple, my (much) younger sisters and cousins are already requesting some. =)

Really like this website, this really helps and very useful.
What a great tutorial. I made a half dozen of these this morning. Some with ribbon and since I did not manage to find ribbon to match the bits of fabric I had on hand, I made a bunch of seam binding to bind some. Very easy and very clear. They are so cute.

I made these five years ago when we were expecting our first Grand child, except, I'm a lazy nana. I bought only flannel, two matching kinds. Pinked the edges.. threw in washer and dryer. Ironed.. pinned right sides together.. sewed the ribbon on one side at about the size I wanted.. used pinking shears to cut them apart. THEY are now on their third child, and still look and work great.
sorry, pinned WRONG sides together..
Awesome, I just got an order for some and this helps a lot. Thank you for sharing.

Very Very Clever...Useful and easy to keep clean. You might also look at Missouri quilt company on utube. They have an adorable receiving blanket that is so easy to make and would go nice with your burp cloths. If you do it right you have a cute blanket that makes it's own binding. I have made several. I also made a bigger one for a blanket using fleece. So soft.
awesome tutorial! Love the step-by-step instructions and photos! Im not a sewer but im going to try to make one of these using your awesome tutorial!
Thanks heaps for sharing! gogusestetigi
