THURSDAY THIRTEEN

THIRTEEN REASONS I'M SO EXCITED
ABOUT BEV AND DON ARRIVING NEXT WEEK
I ALMOST CAN'T STAND IT

  1. Bev and I have not seen each other since our brother Jerry's funeral in May of 2004. Don wasn't able to come with her so it's been five years since we've seen him.

  2. She is my best friend. I miss her all the time.

  3. Don is one of the nicest men I've ever known in my life. Every moment spent in his presence is a joy. I love that I'll hear Don say the blessing when we sit down to eat.

  4. I know that after we hug each other and stop crying, Bev will make me laugh and I won't stop laughing again until I start crying when they leave. She is the funniest person I've ever met. She talks a mile a minute and has the sharpest wit I've ever encountered.

  5. Krissy and Mandy haven't seen Aunt Bev and Uncle Don in over five years. Bev and Don have not met Krissy's husband Andy or Mandy's fiance Aaron or my grandchild Cameron. And they haven't met Chelsea. The dog we had before Chelsea, Chloe, snarled at Bev and bit her foot. Chelsea will love her. Chelsea loves the scary looking man who knocks on my door once a week and tries to sell me steaks and fish from the trunk of his car.

  6. Don was born in Grand Junction but left here when he was a small child. So I know he will really enjoy coming back here. I imagine he'll be shocked at how the city has changed.

  7. We plan to take them to the Colorado National Monument which is a twenty-two mile drive through the most unbelievable cliffs and canyons I've ever seen. It's a white-knuckle drive but it's awesome.

  8. My house will be absolute madness all day long with the whole family here. I love it when my house is full of that kind of madness.

  9. Although it's not really likely, I still hold on to the possibility that I may actually beat her at Scrabble for the first time in my life.

  10. Thursday morning we'll all be able to sit on my patio and have coffee and talk.

  11. My mother will be beside herself with happiness that Bev and Don are actually here. In Grand Junction. When my mother's happy, everyone around her is happy.

  12. Bev will finally believe what she never thought she'd believe. I am no longer anal-compulsive about my house. Fly Lady would be mortified but Bev will be proud of me. She might even think I'm normal now.

  13. At the end of the day, after everyone has left and the guys have gone to bed, Bev and I will stay up way too late, dressed in our rattiest Old Navy pj's, drinking hot Celestial Seasoning tea and talking until we're bleary-eyed and hoarse. We'll solve all the problems of the world. And we'll go to bed completely exhausted. Because that's what sisters who don't get to be together nearly enough do.

Good grief my legs are ridiculously white! And skinny/knobby. My husband, on the other hand looks cute. And is it seriously five years since he's been there. Surely not. It seems like forever ago we made reservations and it's almost here. It's going to be a bit nutty getting it all done before we leave, drive to Kansas, drive to Ft. Collins, then drive to Grand Junction, but we can't wait to walk in the door and be with all of you. Don obviously needs to retire so we dont go so long in between visits. I laughed to remember that your past dog did hate me, and maybe this one will actually like me! That's a thought - come see you and not get dog-bitten....And Scrabble? Game on! Nobody here to ever play Scrabble with except the fake computer person.

I'm so excited for you two, I mean four. I can't imagine being away; from my sis for that long! You'll have to ask Bev if she remembers the picture I had in my mind of the two of you when I asked her how you'll ever share a computer. :vD

And Bev, just so you know, I wish my knees were skinny and knobby! Maybe not white, but definitely skinny! :v)

Barb and Bev, I SOOO understand and relate to this list! My sisters are indeed my best friends, and since we all live far from each other, our times together are extremely precious. I adore them. One of my sisters is even named Bev! I'm so happy that you two are getting together. Don't let so much time go by before you see each other again!

This just about had me in tears. I miss my sisters so much it hurts sometimes. There are four of us and we all live far away. My closest sister is 7 hours but we rarely see each other. She is a career gal. It also makes me miss my daughter is DC.

I know what you mean up staying up until all hours chatting. I so miss that. I wish I could be a mouse in the corner just so I could witness your joy!

Blessings!

That sounds so wonderful! I love it when sisters are the best of friends. I think my sister and I probably take each other for granted because we live in the same city.

That sounds like the absolute best time - I'm tickled for you two! My sweet cousin, Laura, is coming to town Sunday for a few days and I'm very excited.

If there was a "Family of the Century" Award, I'd nominate your bunch. You all are just the sweetest, most genuine, loving people.

Have a wonderful time with Bev & Don!

I think it is wonderful that you will get to be with your sister and brother-in-law after such a long time! Family members shouldn't be so far from each other! Have a blessed time.

Sounds like good times ahead! I'm the eldest of 5 and we had such fun times. My sis and I are the same age for 2 weeks every year - I just passed her up again Monday. I told your sis to stop by a MIRL on her way through FC. That's where I work!

Sisters!!! What else it there to say!

I miss my sister so much and she's only 3 1/2 hours away. Enjoy your time catching up and let us in on how blessed it was!

All of those things sound wonderful, but the best is the sitting and talking. It is hard when our families are so spread out. My little mother is under the impression that families should all live within a few blocks of each other. I'm sure that wouldn't work well for every family, but I don't think I would mind it a bit with ours.
Have a super time.

Dawn said...

Thank you for the kind comment on today's post. It is hard, but he definitely will be in a much better place very soon. Then we hope and pray that Mom can adjust.

Your sis is going to be in FC, where I work. I hope she'll give me a call!

Thanks for visiting my blog. Autumn Treat sounds wonderful. I've not had a Schwan's man in awhile, so I've never even heard of that delicious yummy.

After reading your TT, I long for the time I will have in Nov. with my dearest friend of 28 years. She and I are the next best thing to sisters.

I will be praying for your time with Bev and Don. Sounds like you're in for a fabulous time. Here's hopin' you've got a chance on that Scrabble board!

You guys are going to have SUCH a great time! Wish I could be a fly on the wall!! Enjoy yourselves ... you deserve it!

What more could you ask for? This sounds like a time filled with lots of fun and memories to last a lifetime. Tell Bev to wave when she goes through Kansas. I'll be looking for her:) hehe.

Yes, there will be madness at your house, but the best kind of madness -- family madness! You guys are going to have the bestest time!

I missed your TT Thursday. Sounds like you are very excited about seeing your sister and her husband. I know it's going to be fun for both of you, having not seen one another for so long. I just wish I had a sister! My Mother lost her sister 4 1/2 years ago, and she said it was one of the worst times of her life. She misses her desperately, as do I!
